About Us

Speedskating has existed in Northern California for the past 50 years.

Milestones and Facts:  

  • Golden Gate Speedskaters, first session on March 13, 1988, Belmont Iceland
  • First Race 1989 - Fashion Island - Foster City
  • Northern California Speedskating Association (NCSA)  formed - April 1992
  • Achieved 501(c)(3) non-profit status  Feb 1994
  • Core Speedskaters was formed to guarantee the funds necessary to pay ice fees  at Oakland Ice Centre September 1996.
  • Hosted ASU National Championships  Feb 1999, San Jose Ice Centre
  • Partnered with the Oakland Ice Centre Skate School - September 2010
  • Every other year, NCSA hosts the California State Championships.
  • NCSA is a member association in good standing with USSpeedskating


Mission Statement

The Mission Statement of the Northern California Speedskating Association (NCSA)  is to promote the sport of speedskating as a positive influence and family activity.
